Good on you, Julia Gillard

But as the door closes behind the fast-retreating backside of the man who, by all accounts, alienated his staff and wore his colleagues out, I hope that history remembers him for this speech. For all his failings as a politician, he was more statesman-like and higher in my esteem when he did this, than any Australian or New Zealand politician has ever been.
